Laced with Lethal Substances: Illegal marijuana is often laced with other drugs, such as fentanyl, a potent opioid that is fatal in small doses – even on the first try. There is no quality control of safety checks in the illegal market, they care about selling their dangerous product and don’t care about the destruction left.
Increased Potency and Health Risks: The potency of THC in unsourced marijuana has skyrocketed in recent years. This heightened potency can lead to severe health consequences, including mental health issues, particularly in young users.

If someone buys 4 ounces, it can be turned into 250 joints. Now, imagine that person selling 300 joints to their friends. It's really concerning because this could inadvertently lead our youth down a dangerous path, turning them into potential drug dealers.

Impact on Public Safety

The winner in handcuffing the Lubbock Police Department from enforcing state law is the illegal market. This not only supports criminal activities but also puts officers at risk of discipline if they enforce the law and removes the ability to use discretion in enforcement.

Prop A mandates the Lubbock Police Department cannot charge or arrest individuals with up to 4 ounces of marijuana – the equivalent of over 200 joints. That’s not low level and that is a dangerous.
